X-Men: Phoenix - Endsong wallpaper - "Phases"
Phenomenal cosmic powers, limited wardrobe. See the many colors of Jean Grey's alter ego, from green and gold (Phoenix) to red and gold (Dark Phoenix) and finally to white and gold (ascended Phoenix). All the artwork is by the phenomenal Greg Land, and comes from the emotional yet unwieldily-titled X-Men: Phoenix - Endsong miniseries.




World of Warcraft wallpaper - "Charcoal 01"
I picked up the Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos gift set cheap off of eBay. Not because I have any intention of playing it, mind you. While even my excursionary experience with the game (I've tried the demo and the prologue level) is enough for me to tell it's a fantastic game, I can't stand RTS games. I love the idea of forging vast armies and charging into battle with them, but the micromanagement grates on my nerves like nails on a mental chalkboard. I bought it only for the included standalone DVD of game cinematics, though I've bought a second one on eBay as well (this one was stuck in the jewel case alongside the game itself; I wanted the copy that was in an honest-to-God DVD case with artwork). Anyway. Frightening DVD geekery aside, however, I was fascinated by the aesthetic of the box design. Since World of Warcraft is a game I can actually enjoy, I decided to try my hand at making a WoW wallpaper following the same outline.

Ooooh, and I've even give them each "titles!" With "quotation marks" and everything! My journey toward the vaunted level of pretentious artiste (with an "e"!) guy seems to be progressing well.

Now you may be asking yourself, "Self, why did FarSky use ImageShack to host his images instead of his own, non-pop-up-y website?" Well, the honest answer is that I'm absolutely infatuated with that little automatically-generated thumbnail thing that ImageShack does. That is so gorram awesome.
